Robin Davy and his Vespa. It‘s a deep and unique love affair. His passion for Vespas is the stuff that Hollywood romantic movies are made of.
The Vespa is his passion and there is hardly anyone in Europe who has contributed as much to its understanding and dissemination as he has: our friend Robin Davy. The English bon vivant and globetrotter was born in 1962 and has lived in Munich's beautiful Herzogpark since 1979. His current job is that of a tennis teacher, and he worked in Munich at Sport Scheck 1980 - 1983, Rothof (until 1992) and in the Herzogpark (until 2001).
He has collected countless models here and displayed them in showcases. The entire ambience is tailored to the Vespa. The walls are adorned with old film posters showing stars such as Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. Who could forget how the two of them discover Rome on a Vespa in the romantic comedy "Sabrina" - just one of many fascinating moments in which a Vespa writes film history! Robin Davy is probably the most famous collector of such moments and all objects that have to do with the Vespa. Nobody has a larger collection of Vespa toys - and mostly in the original packaging.
Robin Davy and his private museum are known all over the world, especially in Italy, Germany, England, France, Spain and Scandinavia. By the way, Robin's favorite model is the racing Vespa "Sei Giorni" (6 Giorni).
The collection is full of treasures because, as he says, the value of his collection is not in the quantity but in the incredible quality of these unique pieces. It's nice that both are more than adequately represented in Robin's collection.
Robin has been collecting everything to do with the Italian scooter for 40 years. The native Englishman built his Vespa paradise in his adopted home of Munich. His museum in a Munich underground car park is legendary. Vespa fans from all over the world have been there and still visit it to experience the history of the Vespa in a fascinating way with all senses. He has revived the great tradition of Vespa acrobatics with his Vespa-Oldtimer Freunde club in Munich.
He has been performing with his Vespa troupe all over Europe for over 20 years. I was lucky enough to write the book „Vespa Forever“ with Robin and also the children‘s book „Enrico‘s Vespa“. His knowledge of the worldwide Vespa history is incredible and certainly unique. I don‘t know anyone who lives a greater love for the Vespa, who dedicates himself to a cause in such a loving way. For me, Robin is Vespa – and Vespa is Robin.“
